Inspired by the 2016 incident in Nice, France where police officers surrounded a Muslim woman wearing a burkini and demanded she take it off. This painting is a salute to the courage and resilience of Muslim women as they traverse the globe, especially in  a world of prejudice and a time of fear. Her salute pose is both longing and brave, like that of someone rising up with fortitude or bidding farewell to the familiar. Both instances require utmost strength.
